HAZARDS IN ORDER OF INCREASING SEVERITY ARE: ASBESTOSIS, LUNG
CANCER, & MESOTHELIOMA, ALL OF WHICH ARE DISABLING AND FATAL
DISEASES OF THELUNG. INHALATION AND INGESTION OF ASBESTOS FIBERS
MAY CAUSE CANCER OF THE BOWEL.
Explanation of Carcinogenicity:ASBESTOS IS A KNOWN HUMAN CARCINOGEN.
Effects of Overexposure:FATIGUE AND SHORTNESS OF BREATH THAT GETS WORSE
WITH TIME AND EVENTUALLY BECOMES DISABLING. DUST MAY BE IRRITATING
TO RESPIRATORY TRACT, SKIN AND EYES.
Medical Cond Aggravated by Exposure:ASTHMA, EMPHYSEMA, AND TUBERCULOSIS
ARE ALL GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE TO ASBESTOS FIBERS.
First Aid
First Aid:EYE CONTACT: FLUSH WITH CLEAN WATER FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES.
CONTACT PHYSICIAN. SKIN CONTACT: DERMATITIS MAY OCUR; WASH WITH
MILD SOAP AND WATER. CONTACT PHYSICIAN. INHALATION: AVOID INHALING
DUST. RE MOVE FROM EXPOSURE. CONTACT PHYSICIAN IF SYMPTOMS DEVELOP.

Ventilation:LOCAL EXHAUST SUFFICIENT TO ENTRAIN ALL PARTICULATE
EMISSIONS. HEPA FILTER REQUIRED. NO LEAKS ON PRESSURE SIDE OF FAN.
Protective Gloves:COTTON OR LEATHER
Eye Protection:SAFETY GLASSES OR GOGGLES
Other Protective Equipment:USE COVERALLS OR DISPOSABLE CLOTHING.
